September is usually the time of the year where I start new habits.
Intoxicated by the good vibes radiated the summer holidays and from the more spare time to think about life I set myself a few goals to reach by the end of the month for a better living.
This month I started a new habit: Following a morning routine.
To be honest, what I did was set a few tasks of my favourite actions usually done in the morning to get me in the right mood for the rest of the day.
A morning routine gives me a sense of purpose and ritual ensuring that I fully become aware of being awake and active.
This ritual can help you reach one step at a time your life goals by setting aside some spare time for your projects and taking advantage of the peace and quietness of the morning.
Here's my daily routine:
- Wake early (but not that too early)
- Drink a fresh squeezed orange, a coffee and a fruit
- Share some time with my fiancé
- Do the 7 minute workout
- Have a long Shower
- Meditate for a couple of minutes under the water
- While showering I set my main daily tasks
- Get dressed and leave for the day
Since I've always woken up late my whole life, my body is still getting used to it, but the great sensation of energy flowing trough my body early in the morning is priceless.
My ritual continues while commuting to work. I'm a big fan of "Solvitur Ambulando", a Latin term which means "It is solved by walking". Walking to work is, besides healthy, also enlightening. My tasks get prioritized and erase the time needed to start getting work done once in the office.
When I'm not walking to the office I catch up news on Zite, Reeder or Flipboard, but usually a quick glance at Zite is sufficient, I highly recommend this App if you don't have it already.
