Those who know me well can understand why I'm incredibly excited with this new product launch.
Since the Drone craze started I've always been fascinated by this technology. It allowed me to mix three of by biggest passions: Travel, Photography and technology.
I even focused on FPV Drone Racing building a quadcopter on my own, but nothing got me excited like the Mavic.
Let me explain you why.
The problem with aerial photography drones (i.e. the DJI Phantom) is that they are incredibly bulky, and it's hard to decide whether I should bring it with me on my trips or not. Extra weight, extra luggage, extra stress.
The Mavic Pro is surprisingly tiny. With the legs and propellers folded in, it collapses down to "the size of a bottle", which is very, very small by drone standards. Transportation is no longer an issue, and it weighs less than 800g. Amazing.
But the wonders of this gadget don't end at it's size.
Dji has introduced a New OcuSync transmission system that offers up to 7km of transmission range. Yes. you've read that correctly. Up to 7km of transmission. Just immagine the endless possibilities. (and the endless ways you can loose it...)
But what about the battery? Well DJI has always offered me a solid 20 minute flight with the Phantom, and the Mavic Pro supports up to 27-minutes of flight.
Of course, as the Phantom, it supports true 4K, fully stabilised footage.
Another great new functionality is the new Obstacle Avoidance paired with Vision positioning, GPS and GLONASS increases flight safety and reliability. Tests show that you may even fly it in-doors (but highly discouraged).
I really can't wait to put my hands on this technology marvel.
