I hate feeling bulky. And most of all I hate having unnecessary stuff with me. After passing years with a default huge wallet I decided it was simply ridiculous to bring always with me all those business and discount cards. So I started to look for the slimmest wallet I could find. In fact I think that the first time I went a bit too far using a simple binder clip for my credit card and money.
To find the perfect wallet I asked my self what do I absolutely need and use everyday? Since I used to have my wallet filled with all kind of stuff, from subway transfers to ATM receipts, I started to review my wallet daily and use the trash can every time I got home, throwing away anything I had no intention to archive for further use. Sure, there’s a chance you might need these later, but more often than not, you won’t.
My iPhone has become an extension of my body; I would be doomed without it. Photos and contacts can be archived in it making it useless to keep business cards and printed pictures in my wallet. Every time I go to a meeting and a client hands me out a business card I copy the needed contacts and hand the card back, saving a little bit of the environment...
And what about the money? Along with receipts, notes, and business cards you should also get rid of paper bills from your wallet. Join my cause and slowly kill cash. Besides clogging your wallet, if you get robbed, or loose your wallet, the cash is lost forever. However credit cards, in most cases, have fraud-protection systems so secure your savings, plus, you can track your purchases.
My current wallet is a thin soft leather case for iPhone from Piquadro. It has a front sleeve big enough to store up to 3 cards and some emergency cash. It's resistant, stylish and perfectly fits my needs.
